How Much Does a Lighting Designer Cost in Dubai?

Lighting concept for a villa facade at night: warm light grazes the curved walls, picks out the upper terrace and lights the entrance steps

It depends on the size of the space, how much you want the designer to do, and how experienced they are. We charge by area, and you get a fixed quote before any work starts.

We do not put one price on our website because it would not mean much. A villa with twelve different rooms and a lit facade is a very different job from a flat where every bedroom is the same.

What moves the fee

Size. We charge per square metre, and the rate drops as the project gets bigger. Floors that repeat the same layout cost less than the first one.

Outside areas. A facade or a garden is priced on its own, not as if it were another room.

How much you hand over. Asking us to check a design you already have costs a fraction of a full design.

Site visits. Checking the installation and aiming every light takes time on site, so packages with site work cost more.

What you get

We work in four phases, and you choose how much of it you need.

  • Refine covers the Schematic phase: the lighting layout, the light levels and the quantities. 1 revision.

  • Studio covers Concept, Schematic and Detailed design. 4 revisions.

  • Complete covers all four, including the site work. 6 revisions.

In plain words: Concept shows your own rooms lit the way we propose, so you approve the look first. Schematic is the layout and the numbers. Detailed design is the drawings your contractor builds from. Site is where we check the work and aim every light.

How you pay

You pay for each phase before it starts. If you stop after a phase, you only pay for the phases you started. The quote is fixed and holds for 90 days. Very small projects are charged a minimum fee.

Comparing two quotes

A cheaper quote can simply mean less work. Check how many phases it covers, how many revisions you get, whether you will see your own rooms lit, and whether anyone comes to site.

Also check how the lights are written into the drawings. If they name one supplier's products, you are stuck with that supplier. Ours describe what each light must do, so you can buy from anyone. Buying lights from us is up to you.

Is it worth it?

An expensive floor or a painting only looks expensive when it is lit well. And fixing bad lighting after the ceiling is closed costs far more than getting it right on paper.

One example. A perfume boutique in a mall: the designer wanted drama, and the mall wanted a minimum light level. We gave her both, and the mall approved it the first time. See the project
