1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use nakashi.ae (“the website”) and when you engage Nakashi Lighting LLC (“Nakashi”, “we”, “us”) for lighting design or for fixture supply. Nakashi Lighting LLC is registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at Unit 115, Block B, Al Hudaiba Awards Buildings, Al Mina Road, Jumeirah 1, Dubai.
Every engagement is also governed by its written proposal or quotation. If the proposal or quotation says something different from these terms, the proposal or quotation applies.
2. Using the website
2.1 You may use the website for lawful purposes. Please do not interfere with how it works or try to access parts of it that are not public.
2.2 The website describes our services in general terms. It is not professional advice for a specific project. Advice for your project is given in writing, under an engagement.
2.3 The text, images, drawings and designs on the website belong to Nakashi or to the people credited with them. You may view and share links to them. You may not copy or reuse them without written permission.
2.4 We keep the website accurate and up to date, but details such as specifications and lead times can change. The proposal or quotation for your project is the confirmed version.
3. Lighting design
3.1 Proposal. Every design engagement starts with a written proposal that states the package, the phases, the scope and the fee. A proposal is valid for 90 days from its date of issue.
3.2 Phases and payment. Design work runs in four phases: Concept, Schematic, Detailed design, and Construction and site. Each phase is invoiced in full before it begins. Work on a phase starts when its invoice is paid, and the deliverables of that phase are released on receipt of that phase fee.
3.3 What each package includes. The proposal lists the deliverables and quantities included, such as the number of revisions, room visuals, sample reviews and site inspections. Anything not listed is outside the scope and is quoted before any work starts.
3.4 Revisions. One revision is one consolidated round of changes on a submission. A change to the design direction after a phase has been approved is quoted separately.
3.5 Information from you. We design from the drawings, renders and details you provide. The programme depends on receiving them complete and on time. Changes to the architecture or interior after a phase has been approved may require additional work, which we quote before starting.
3.6 Fixtures from other suppliers. You are free to buy fixtures from any supplier. The design documents state the performance each fixture must achieve, so any supplier can quote against them. Where a supplier other than Nakashi provides fixtures, we review a sample against the design before installation, as set out in the proposal. Further sample reviews are quoted separately.
3.7 Site attendance. Site inspections and commissioning are included only where the package says so. Additional site visits, and travel outside Dubai, are quoted separately.
3.8 Cancellation. You may end an engagement at any time by writing to us. Phases already invoiced remain payable, and phases not yet started are not charged.
3.9 Ownership of the design. The drawings, calculations, visuals and documents we produce remain the property of Nakashi until the fees for them are paid in full. Once paid, you may use them for the project they were prepared for. They may not be reused for another project without our written agreement. We may show the completed project in our portfolio, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
3.10 Construction. Our role is to design the lighting and, where the package includes it, to inspect and commission it. The contractor remains responsible for installation, wiring and compliance with electrical and building regulations.
4. Fixture supply
4.1 Quotation. Every supply order starts with a written quotation that states the products, quantities, price, lead time and payment terms. A quotation is based on the BOQ and specifications you send. A supply quotation is valid for 90 days from its date of issue.
4.2 Payment. An advance payment is required before products are ordered or produced, as stated on the quotation. The balance is due before delivery.
4.3 Samples. We recommend approving a sample before the bulk order, particularly for customised or bespoke products. Once a sample is approved, production follows the approved sample.
4.4 Lead times. Lead times depend on the product: products in stock in Dubai are available in 2 working days, customised products in 4 to 5 weeks, bespoke architectural products in 4 to 8 weeks, and full custom decorative pieces in 8 to 12 weeks. The confirmed dates for your order are stated in writing on the proposal. They exclude time taken for your review and approvals.
4.5 Returns and cancellation. Standard products from stock may be returned within 30 days of delivery or collection, with no restocking charge, provided they are unused and in their original packaging. Products made or customised for your project cannot be cancelled or returned once production has started.
4.6 Delivery. We deliver within the United Arab Emirates. For a project outside the UAE, delivery can be arranged and is quoted separately.
Orders below AED 10,000 are collected by you from our Dubai office.
Orders of AED 10,000 or more are delivered by us at no extra charge, by our own vehicle or, for larger consignments, by courier.
When production is complete, products reach our Dubai office within 3 to 4 days, and we deliver them, or make them ready for collection, within 2 days of receiving them. Please inspect the products on delivery or collection and report any damage or shortage within 7 days.
4.7 Installation. Products are installed by your contractor. Installation is not part of a supply order.
4.8 Documents. Each supply order comes with datasheets and the operation and maintenance manual.
4.9 Warranty. Products from our own five fixture families carry a warranty of up to 10 years, depending on the family, as stated on the quotation. A fitting that fails within its warranty is replaced, not repaired. Products we source from other manufacturers carry the manufacturer’s warranty, which we pass on to you. The warranty does not cover damage from incorrect installation, incorrect power supply, misuse, or alteration of the product.
5. Confidentiality
We sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share drawings with us, and we keep your project information confidential. We use it only to prepare and deliver our work, and we disclose it only where you agree or the law requires it.
6. Liability
6.1 We carry out our work with the skill and care expected of a professional lighting practice.
6.2 To the extent the law allows, our total liability under an engagement or order is limited to the fees or the price paid under that engagement or order, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit or business interruption.
6.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
7. Prices and taxes
Fees and prices are in UAE dirhams and exclude VAT, which is added at the applicable rate.

How we use personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. The courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. An engagement or order already agreed continues under the terms that applied when it was agreed.
